Solos/duos (where available) are routines entered on the registration form and listed in the running order, choreographed by the coach, up to 1 min 15 sec long. The solo/duo is the only routine on the floor at that time.

Note this is different to the ICE Rink (offered at all events except Championships and Too Cool for School) which is a knockout-style tournament for solos/duos. ICE Rink has multiple solos/duos competing at the same time, similar to a freestyle competition, which athletes can enter on the day for £5. More information about ICE Rink is available here.

How many Solos/Duos can I enter?

At each event, each programme is permitted to enter up to 5 solos/duos per style, subject to availability. These can be all in the same age grouping or in different age groupings. There is no separate novice category for solos/duos at any event. Athletes must be entered into their relevant age division. Proof of age may be requested.

In all cases, where solos and/or duos are offered, only a limited number of solo/duo slots are available at each event. Solos/duos are always subject to availability, including at Championship events. Registration for solos/duos may close early, before any deadline, at any time, including for Championship events.

What styles are available?

The following styles are available (unless specified otherwise):

  • Christmas ICE Breaker – Solos & duos are not available. ICE Rink is available for solos/duos in Cheer, Pom, Hip Hop and Jazz/Contemporary.
  • All other ICE Extravaganza Cheer & Dance Events (including Extra Cool) – Cheer, Pom, Hip Hop, Jazz & Lyrical/Contemporary for solos. Duos are not available. Cheer, Pom, Hip Hop & Jazz/Contemporary for ICE Rink solos/duos.

What age groupings are available?

Age groupings for solos and duos

Age groupings for solos are as per the 2019-2020 SportCheer UK Age Grid. Duos are available at ICE Ultimate Dance Experience events only. Masters are welcome to enter the open age grouping. Note the above age groupings also apply to ICE Rink. Solo divisions may be split as per the SportCheer UK Age Grid.

Cheer solos (not available at Christmas ICE Breaker or at ICE Ultimate Dance Experience events) are not separated into levels. Cheer solos are capped at the levels above, as per the SportCheer UK Age Grid.

ATHLETES MUST BE ENTERED INTO THE DIVISION RELEVANT FOR THEIR AGE. So a Tiny age athlete cannot enter a Mini Cheer Solo in order to perform skills higher than level 1, for example.

What are the crossover limitations?

At ICE, an athlete can compete in no more than 6 routines in total (inclusive of solos/duos) at any one event. (ICE Rink entries are not included in this total). An athlete may not compete more than once in the same division.

A cheer soloist competes at an ICE Extravaganza Cheer and Dance eventCan my soloist/s win a bid to a Championship event?

There will be a bid awarded to the highest scoring soloist from tiny/mini/youth and from junior/senior/open, in each style, at each event, to compete at the ICE Championships (for cheer) or the ICE Ultimate Dance Experience Championships (for dance). Solo entries for the Championship events are therefore by invitation only.

All cheer solo bid winners will win a bid to compete at ICE Championships 2020. There are no dance solos or duos at ICE Championships 2020. All dance solo bid winners (including bid winners from ICE Extravaganza & Extra Cool events) will win a bid to compete at the ICE Ultimate Dance Experience Championships in November 2020. Note: Duos are available at ICE Ultimate Dance Experience Championships and no bid is required.

Coaches wishing to enter bid-winning soloists in either ICE Championships or ICE Ultimate Dance Experience Championships will need to register them using the entry form as normal (registration for ICE Championships is open, and registration for ICE Ultimate Dance Experience Championships will open nearer the time). Registration is not automatic, and is subject to availability. Please see pricing and deadlines.
